Persuasive & QRs

This is an incredibly motivating and engaging project for students, and it's a great way to expose them to opinion, or persuasive, writing while using QR codes!

A few of the Common Core Anchor standards addressed in this project include:

W.1 Write arguments to support claims in an analysis of substantive topics or texts using valid reasoning and relevant and sufficient evidence.

W.4 Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.

W.6 Use technology, including the internet, to produce and publish writing and to interact and collaborate with others.

W.7 Conduct short as well as more sustained research projects based on focused questions, demonstrating understanding of the subject under investigation.

W.8 Gather relevant information from multiple print and digital sources and integrate the information while avoiding plagiarism.

To begin the project, I explain to the class that I am thinking about getting a class pet; a hamster, a hermit crab, or maybe a fish. I act very skeptical about this- like I really don't want to get a pet at all! Of course, the students become incredibly excited about this prospect and the chatter begins!

I explain to them that in order to get a pet, we'll need to do our research to determine which pet will be the best fit for our classroom. I also explain there's no way we'll be getting a pet unless they can persuade me with their writing. This is where the QR codes come in!

I created numerous QR codes for each pet that link to specific websites about each pet. Most of the QR codes link to websites where the students can read and see pictures of each pet, and some of the QR codes link to YouTube videos that teach about each type of pet. Students scan the QR codes, do their research (this can be done independently, in teams, groups, or as a whole class). As they research, they completed a graphic organizer to get their thoughts and reasoning down for the pet they chose.

You can see a video of how we launched this project here:

  1. They see a country that has no future and know that occasion that they} 코인카지노 keep, they may have no future either. By now, it's turning into clear, and not only to the youthful technology, that Putin’s state can impose its rule only by way of violence. At least since Soviet times, Russians have used dark humor to deal with dictatorship. There isn't sufficient evidence that this roulette wheel is unfair.
